The Gardeners of Weedin'

Around this time in 2015, I found a flyer for a half-day of gardening classes. It's offered by a bunch of whacky, gregarious ladies who put on the event to make funds for their church garden. After months of post-surgical recovery from vertebrae fusion, and sick of snow, I was looking for a way to get out of the house and thought, "Well, this looks like FUN. Or at least a good distraction."

So I went and I had a blast. At $15 (or whatever it was then), it was a deal and a lovely way to meet a variety of gardening folks and skill levels in Columbus. I didn't know many people yet, but I met a few I've stayed in touch with since then. The event includes a bunch of mini-classes, some snacks (one of my favorite things about the Midwest: SNACKS), and a craft activity. We decoupaged photos on frames, I think. Then a big raffle and that was it. I inquired if they needed instructors for a future class and left my contact info.

Guess what? I'm a "bonus" instructor this year! I'm not sure what that means, exactly, but I'm honored to be a "bonus." I hope you'll consider joining us for our Gardeners of Weedin' spring class on April 9th. Different topics include Intro to Beekeeping, Garden Color, and Intro to Landscape Design. All are welcome - it's fun, informal, and informative. I'm looking forward to what I'll learn from the other instructors, too.
